Summary
This is a fighting spear with a wooden blade. When metal was introduced into Arnhem Land, this material was used to make these "shovel nosed" spears.

A composite shovel nosed spear with a recessed butt. The head is made of a single piece of wood. It is secured to the wooden shaft with vegetable fibre. The shaft and head are painted with natural pigments.
