Summary
Product publicity brochure or promotional booklet, titled 'The "Sunlight" Header Harvester', 8 pages, illustrated with photographs.
"Sunlight" header harvesters built to H.S. Taylor's patents were produced at H.V. McKay's Sunshine Harvester Works from 1917 through until the early part of 1921, when the design was superseded by the upgraded "Sunshine Header Harvester" for the 1921-1922 season.
Front cover is illustrated with photograph of the "Sunlight" Header Harvester.
Inside front cover is headed 'The "Sunlight" Header Harvester or REAPER-THRASHER' featuring a photograph with the caption '"SUNLIGHT" HEADER HARVESTER-Sectional view, with Thrasher Drum, Double Fan, and Gearing' and text listing leading features of the machine.
Content of booklet includes: construction and method of working, weight, gearing, "unsolicited testimonials of users" from G.H. Sly (Henty, NSW), P. Schultz (Culcairn, NSW), Thomas Milne (The Rock, NSW), J. & A. Leys (Campbell's Forest, Victoria), G.E. Little (Darriwell, NSW).
Back cover features a photograph of the "Sunlight" Header drawn by six horses working in a heavily thistle infested crop on Mr. G.H. Sly's farm "Glenavon", near Henty, New South Wales, with the caption "A Marvellous Harvesting Permformance". On page 5 of the brochure a testimonial from G.H. Sly is reproduced which reads:
'Dear Sir, -In reference to the "Sunlight" Header I purchased from you this season, I wish to say I am well pleased with this machine. I have just completed harvesting of 120 acres of oat crop, which, in addition to being badly down, was thickly infested with thistles, some of which were 6 feet high. This machine went through them without a hitch, which I consider was wonderful.
Six horses pulled her easily, doing 18 acres per day. I consider it is the best harvesting machine I have ever driven, and can recommend it to anyone who is thinking of going in for a Header.'
