It is one of a group of photographs probably taken by American folklorist Dr Dorothy Howard while she was studying children's games and playlore in Australia under a Fulbright research grant,1954-1955. Her photographs and research have become part of the Australian Children's Folklore Collection at Museum Victoria - part of the UNESCO Australian Memory of the World Register.

The ACFC is unique in Australia, documenting contemporary children's folklore across Australia and in other countries reaching back to the 1870s. The Collection has a strong component of research material relating to Victoria.
