Description of Content
A little girl in a white dress dancing with her arms above her head, surrounded by a circle of other little girls also in costume. This photograph shows Christine Johnson dancing in a white dress outside, at a 1954 end-of-year performance at a makeshift kindergarten at the Tennis Club House in Deepdene Park. When the Tennis Club wasn't being used for tennis it was the kindergarten. During the baby boom after World War II, many buildings were used as kindergartens. Margaret Johnson, Mrs Bedgood (of Bedgood shoes) and Mrs Menzies (Sir Robert Menzie's sister in law) started the kindergarten.
