A girl and two boys sitting reading comics on a bench. The Starkey family home, South Melbourne, 1950s. Accommodation was scarce at this time and the Starkeys let out their three spare rooms upstairs. An Englishman with two children lived in the rooms temporarily. The girl and boy on the left are the English boarder's children, and the child on the right is a neighbour. A young divorced woman and her son lived in another room out the back.
