Description of Content

View from the bridge of a ship of the river and water traffic, and city. This photograph was taken from the bridge of the MV 'Conis', a Shell oil tanker 8 January 1987. The view is of Melbourne from Holden Dock. The tug 'Corsair' is visible in the foreground. Marty Hart was an engineer on the 'Conis', and he took his wife and two children to Geelong, so they could see what it was like to travel by ship. It was meant to take three hours, but there was a new ship's pilot, and it took five hours. Working as a crew member on a commercial ship has meant long times apart for Marty, his wife Devon and their children.
