Description of Content

Woman standing, man crouching patting dog, on path on the bank of a river, with a hill behind them. This photograph shows Mab and Syd Brearley on the banks of the Yarra River, Melbourne, with Tip the dog, circa 1913. They are probably at Studley Park. A family member recalled that lots of people would come from places like Brunswick by train and get off at Victoria Park station to walk by the Yarra. The photographer, Stanley Fletcher, was training to be a professional photographer at Powers Studio, Brunswick. Syd Brearley was a saddler from near Noorat, and he and Mab may have come to Brunswick to visit the family for a holiday. They are wearing their holiday clothes. Tip was probably the Fletcher family dog from Brunswick. There is another photograph in this series, MM110330.
