Description of Content

Two men in entertaining pose with clarinet, euphonium, beer bottles and a program of performances poster in a backyard. This photograph shows Stanley Fletcher's friends and family as 'The Calithumpian Band', circa 1913. It is probably Fred (surname unknown) with a euphonium or baritone horn, and Stan Fletcher on the right playing a clarinet. Stanley Fletcher had a wicked sense of humour and his daughter guesses that the rest of his family did too. Stanley played the clarinet, and it's likely that the rest could play their instruments too. This series of four photographs, MM110333, MM110334, MM110335 and MM110336, were probably taken in the family backyard in Brunswick. The sign about ducklings and chooks is probably a joke on the fact that the family kept hens.
