Description of Content
Nurses, child patients and cots on the road, outside a hospital. This photograph shows the trainee nurses and patients of Melbourne's Eye & Ear Hospital waiting outside on Victoria Parade for the Royal Visit of 1954. This image also relates to the image MM110349. During the visit, the Queen was scheduled to drive past the hospital. Glenys Esperson was a trainee nurse at the Eye & Ear Hospital. She had to rush back from the Melbourne Cricket Ground where she had watched her Mother's pupils perform maypole routines for the Queen, so she had time to change into her uniform and get in position. They were lined up on Victoria Parade in front of buildings including the Eastern Hill Hotel. Glenys Esperson is in the very centre at the end of the cot.
