Roving street performers outside the Melbourne Arts Centre, dressed in pink, orange and blue with painted faces. A crowd watches them. This photograph shows roving street performers outside the Melbourne Arts Centre for the Melbourne Arts Festival in 1993. When the festival was on, the photographer Liza Dale-Hallet would go down at lunch time to see what was on. She remembers 'It was the place to be. This was a time when street entertainment was very much part of the character of the festival. It didn't matter if you didn't have any money, you could still see fantastic shows and performers. You just had to be there. The streets around the Arts Centre were decked out with lights and street performers were everywhere. It was very much a public festival at that time.'
