This photograph shows Regina Bortko with her new wood burning stove, circa 1955. The stove heated all the hot water in the house as well, as well as being used for cooking. The family remember 'She was very proud of her new stove.' The Bortko family were Polish and Russian migrants who arrived after World War II. The suburb of Melbourne they lived in is unknown.
