Description of Content

One man and four women sitting around a picnic on a rug. The women and man on the left hand side are sitting on the running board of a parked car. The woman on the left is wearing a cloche hat. This photograph shows a family picnic in Melton, 1926. Their daughter remembers that outings like these were an important part of Chris Lancaster and Ruth King's courtship. Chris was an artist and not only hand tinted the photographs, but drew decorations and sketches all the way through the album. The early part of the album shows the years Ruth and Chris were courting.
