This is a view of Myer Store, Bourke Street, and the General Port Office clock tower, decorated for the Olympic Games, August 1956. The photographer David Meale had been brought up in the country and only recently moved to Melbourne. He remembers 'Lots of the shops in the city were decorated to celebrate the Games. You could walk through the city just to see them.'
