Description of Content
Boy and girl seated on floor 'cracking the eggs' at Easter. The eggs are dyed pinkish red. This photograph shows the photographer Andriana Papanastasiou's children 'cracking the eggs' at Easter, Yarraville, 1977. This tradition of dyeing the eggs was a family affair. Andriana remembers 'The idea was to have the strongest egg, one by one cracked all the others until you are the 'winner'. This egg signified luck and prosperity in the coming year.'
