Group portrait of girl's school orchestra. The uniform the girls are wearing has a cape. This is a group portrait of the Sisters of Mercy School Orchestra, in Nicholson Street Carlton, circa 1927. The child performer Elvie Watson is seated, bottom right, and carrying a violin. Elvie had been a professional entertainer since the age of 5. On Saturday nights she would perform impersonations at Vaudeville nights at Melbourne Town Halls.
