Studio portrait of young woman in elaborately flowered hat. This photograph shows Hilda Jeffreys in a 'Flora Dora' hat, Melbourne, circa 1900. According to the family 'In the late 1880s a musical came to Melbourne called 'Flora Dora'. It was very popular and a lot of young people formed a 'Flora Dora' Society and would sing and dance the numbers from the show. Hilda Jeffreys was a keen member and met her husband at one of these meetings. The society went on picnics and boat rides and always wore these fancy hats and parasols.'
