This photograph shows Dorothy Daws sitting on the retaining wall of the foreshore outside her camping site at Rye, circa 1960. There was no electricity. Light was powered off the car battery. They cooked off bottled gas. Her son Eric was 19 and took the photograph while he was holidaying with his mother and father.
