Description of Content
Two women with parasols, a boy and a girl picnicking in long grass on a hill. This photograph shows Elizabeth Fowler and her son Fred, with family friends in Ferntree Gully, circa 1928. According to the family 'Beth was raising Fred as a single mother, because his father was killed on the Western Front in World War I, when Fred was an infant. She raised Fred while her sister Jean was also raising her son Jack alone. Beth came out with Fred to Australia, after the rest of her family migrated, and Fred and Jack were raised together.'
