Description of Content
Two women standing on either side of a man carrying a baby, outside a new house. This photograph shows members of the Duncan and Beedles family, standing outside the Duncan's house in West Heidelberg, Christmas day, 1950. Left to right: Frances Duncan and her George Duncan, who is carrying his son Alec, and Anne Beedles. Anne was Frances' sister. The photographer Russell Beedles remembers 'The Duncans lived up the road in a new Housing Commission of Victoria house in West Heidelberg. They were thrilled to get the house. The family were new migrants, and had stayed with the Beedles at Waterdale Road for a year. The Beedles sponsored the Duncan family to emigrate. Anne put their names down on the waiting list and they were accepted.' The Beedles had come to visit and have Christmas lunch with the Duncans. The photograph was taken with the 'Box Brownie'. 'It got taken everywhere.'
