Description of Content
An infant boy playing in a wheel-barrow in the front garden. This photograph shows Peter Oakes aged 3, at Lyon Street Essendon, 1949. Peter is playing in a wheelbarrow in the front garden of the family home. His grandparents Albert and Eva Oakes owned or rented this house in Essendon. After World War II, Frank and Penny Oakes and their son Peter moved into the house with Frank's parents and Frank's sister Sybil. They lived together because of the post World War II housing shortage, and also because Frank, Penny and Sybil needed help starting out, after Frank and Sylvia returned from their War service.
