Description of Content
A novelty portrait of a man, woman and three girls sitting in a mock 'speed boat'. The man is sitting at the front. This novelty photograph shows Jos Leahy, Mary Leahy, Janet Archer, Teresa McCready, and Edythe Archer in a mock 'speed boat' at Luna Park, 1958. Edythe's daughter Judy Archer remembers: 'In Luna Park in the 1950's there were permanent sets at the entrance where you got your photograph taken.' The Archer and Leahy families were taking Judy's cousin Tessa McCready out, because she was visiting from Wellington, New Zealand. Judy believes she 'was probably at work and unable to come' to the excursion. Jos Leahy was in the merchant navy, which was probably why they chose the boat. Edythe changed her name to Rose in the 1970s.
