Description of Content

Man smoking pipe, wearing hat and reading newspaper, sitting next to smiling woman in turban on steamer ferry. Other passengers, wood panelling and tarpaulins are visible. This photograph shows passengers aboard a steamer ferry on Port Phillip Bay, circa 1920. Not much is know by the family about this photograph. Adrian Holloway and his mother Elizabeth Holloway, and probably his two sisters went on an outing on one of the Port Phillip ferries, either the 'Hygeia', 'Weeroona' or 'Ozone', probably to Sorrento, in the 1920s. The photograph shows Adrian smoking a pipe in a broad brimmed, high crowned hat, and his mother in a turban style hat with a crest on it, in the centre of the crowds on board the steamer.
