Description of Content

Mother, two girls and two boys are sitting at a rectangular table with decorated eggs. Mother and boy are knocking their eggs together. This photograph shows the Ellerbock family at their kitchen table at Easter, Ringwood East, 1956. Their house was on Bedford Park Road, which is now Hill Street. The family celebrated Easter with coloured boiled eggs. Anna and her son Herb are playing 'Eierbecken', a game where the players hit each other's boiled eggs, trying to see which egg was stronger. Most of the eggs were home decorated, rather than bought chocolate eggs. At that time the Ellerbock's house was the only house in the street.
