Description of Content
This stereograph shows twin images of uniformed soldiers of the Second Victorian Contingent board a ship from a pier, while a military band plays and onlookers gather around. This stereograph shows the boarding of the Second Victorian Contingent onto the 'SS Euryalus', departing for the Boer War, 13 January 1900. This stereograph came from a collection of Melba Ryan's grandparents, Josephine and Martin Nowlan. A lot of them were bought around Federation as souvenirs. They were passed down to Melba's mother, Doris Holden, who passed them down to her.
