This stereograph shows twin images of an open carriage and mounted guards process beneath the Victorian Arch in Sydney during the Federation Celebrations. This stereograph shows the arch erected by Victoria in Sydney as part of public celebrations of the Federation of Australia, May 1901. An open carriage usually reserved for dignitaries, and mounted guards process through, with a crowd of onlookers. This stereograph came from a collection of Melba Ryan's grandparents, Josephine and Martin Nowlan. A lot of them were bought around Federation as souvenirs. They were passed down to Melba's mother, Doris Holden, who passed them down to her.
