Description of Content
A view of the circus camp site in a field, showing a caravan, camp fire, washing line, and three women and a child. This photograph seems to show a visit from family friends to Holden Brothers Circus, circa 1927. The two women to the left are unknown, but they are wearing hats and 'visiting clothes', so according to the family it is likely that they are visiting the camp site. Mrs 'Danny' Dealma, in a 'pinny' apron is behind a pram. Melba Holden as an infant is being held on is on the right hand side woman's lap. Melba remembers: 'Mrs 'Danny' Dealma's husband was a famous clown brought out by Worth Bros Circus. Those are probably Melba's nappies on the line. Doris was congratulated by visitors to the circus on the whiteness of her washing. It was boiled up in kerosene tins on the fire.' The location is unknown.
