Description of Content
A boy sits backwards on a pony with a dog, while the pony's foal has a drink. This photograph shows Freddy Mayanard of Holden Brothers Circus, circa 1935. He is sitting backwards on a pony with a dog, while the pony's foal has a drink. Melba Ryan remembers: 'She and other kids would often be educated by correspondence while travelling, and Mrs Mayanard would get the kids of the circus together and be teacher. Sometimes the kids would have to stay home to learn. Freddy is now the proprietor of Perry's Circus. His whole family travelled with the Holdens at one stage. Freddy was taught by Ernie to spin ropes, and he became very accomplished.' The location is unknown.
