Description of Content
A man 'spins' two ropes on a suburban front lawn, while a woman and another man sit on the verandah behind and watch him. This photograph shows Ernie Holden spinning double ropes after his retirement, Kensington, in the late 1950s. His wife Doris and son John Holden are sitting on the seat in the background. This photograph was taken on the front lawn of the Holden family home in Kensington. His daughter Melba remembers: 'Ernie went to Mass every morning, but one day in 1961 he got confused about which direction he was going. A friend stopped and asked him if he was alright. He had had a cerebral haemorrhage, the first sign he was getting sick.'
