A man cleaning fish, in front of a cooking fire, with a circus caravan behind him and a little girl standing next to him. This photograph shows Adolphus Holden of Holden Brothers Circus, circa 1934. He is cleaning fish, and his granddaughter Melba Holden is standing behind him to the left, aged about 7. According to the family, her mother Doris would say 'Come on, be in the photo!' Adolphus' wife 'Nan' (Florence) is visible, cooking with a frying pan at the left. The cast iron 'stove' of bars over the fire was an improvement on cooking straight on the fire. The family remembers the Holdens were great fishermen. 'Once the tent was up, if they were at a beach town they would go fishing and catch fish whenever they could.' The location is unknown.
