Summary
Publicity booklet issued by the Public Relations Department, State Electricity Commission of Victoria, Monash House, 15 William Street, Melbourne, in May 1977. Layout and graphic design by Rosetzky Waddell Design. Printed by Alexander Bros, Melbourne.
The contents describes the SECV's brown coal-fired thermal power generating assets in the Latrobe Valley, including the Yallourn, Morwell, Hazelwood Power Stations and associated open cut coal mines. A section entitled "The Environment" begins with the statement "Wherever fuel is burnt to provide energy there is an inevitable release of combustion products, but the SEC's modern power plants are visibly much cleaner than the old ones...Tall chimneys ensure that the cleaned exhaust gases rise high into the atmosphere and are diluted to harmless concentrations before they return to ground level." It makes no reference to either carbon dioxide emissions specifically or longer term impacts such as global warming.
Physical Description
A4-sized 22-page portrait format staple-bound booklet with two-colour cover printed in black and orange (the SECV corporate colours at this time). Inside pages monochrome black print, with numerous photographic illustrations, on white paper stock.
