Designed for use in electrometers and other instruments requiring voltage measurement with extremely low input current. This type of device was supplanted by solid state FET devices.

Physical Description
Small tubular bulb with exhaust tip at one end and pinch at the other. 5 flying leads with a group of 4 and the 5th (grid) lead separated by some distance to minimise leakage. The red spot indicates pin 1. Item is enclosed in its original packaging.
