Colour photograph of Centennial Hall looking north-east, taken from the Nicholson Street entrance in January 1981. The eastern nave of the Royal Exhibition Building is reflected clearly in the southern face of the Hall's mirrored glass facade, while the buildings along the eastern side of Nicholson Street can been seen in the Hall's eastern face.

This is one of 959 photographs (or images) of the Exhibition Building collated by the Exhibition Trustees as a 10 volume pictorial history of the Exhibition Building spanning the years 1880 to 1985. The pictorial history was instigated by the centenary of the Exhibition Building in 1980 and forms part of a larger Royal Exhibition Building collection of documents, photographs, objects and research files.

Physical Description

A colour photographic print on a page of a photograph album. The image is taken from near the Nicholson Street entrance and shows the bluestone edging to the Carlton Gardens and bluestone columns with lamps flanking the entrance. The entrance is secured by a row of nine security bollards. In the background is the south-eastern corner of Centennial Hall, with a reflecting of the Royal Exhibition Building's eastern nave in the Hall's southern face and the buildings opposite of the Hall on the eastern side of Nicholson Street reflected in the eastern face. There is a printed caption below the photograph.
