She is accompanied on the dais by her husband, the Hon Angus Ogilvy, the Permier of Victoria, Rupert "Dick" Hamer and his wife, the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress, members of the Exhibition Trustees executive committee and other distinguished attendees.
This is one of 959 photographs (or images) of the Exhibition Building collated by the Exhibition Trustees as a 10 volume pictorial history of the Exhibition Building spanning the years 1880 to 1985. The pictorial history was instigated by the centenary of the Exhibition Building in 1980 and forms part of a larger Royal Exhibition Building collection of documents, photographs, objects and research files.

A black & white photographic print on a page of a photograph album. The image depicts Her Royal Highness Princess Alexandra standing at a lectern on the temporary dais errected at the eastern entrance to the Royal Exhibition Buildings giving an address as part of the centenary address. Seated on the dais behind her are her husband, the Hon Angus Ogilvy, the Permier of Victoria, Rupert "Dick" Hamer, and his wife, the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress, members of the Exhibition Trustees executive committee, and Sir James Scholtens KCVO. An easel with a veiled curtain pulled across it stands on the dais behind Her Royal Highness' to her left. Behind them a portion of the banner hung across the entrance way which reads 'The Melbourne International Centenary Exhibition', with the dates 1880 and 1980 in the upper corners, is visible. There is a printed caption below the photograph.
