This is one of 959 photographs (or images) of the Exhibition Building collated by the Exhibition Trustees as a 10 volume pictorial history of the Exhibition Building spanning the years 1880 to 1985. The pictorial history was instigated by the centenary of the Exhibition Building in 1980 and forms part of a larger Royal Exhibition Building collection of documents, photographs, objects and research files.

Description of Content

Black & white photograph of the interior of the Gas & Fuel Corporation's exhibit at the Melbourne International Centenary Exhibition held at the Royal Exhibition Buildings, Melbourne, between 23 September and 5 October 1980. A diorama in the background depicts two female mannequins dressed in late nineteenth century clothing standing under reproduction gas street lamps, against a painted backdrop of Collins Street looking west. Also exhibited is an 'Advance' gas stove produced by the KFB Foundry, Pitt Street, Sydney, displayed under the exhibition heading, ' ... the way we were'.
