The pictorial history was instigated by the centenary of the Exhibition Building in 1980 and forms part of a larger Royal Exhibition Building collection of documents, photographs, objects and research files.

Outgoing Exhibition Trustees Director John Elden seated admiring a gold pocket watch in a red leather case that was presented to him by Graeme Marston at the at the EOCA Dinner held for Elden in the Royal Exhibition Buildings on the evening of 19 June 1985. Seated on Elden's right is Graeme Marston, while on his left is Mel Campbell.
