Summary
Publicity brochure or souvenir booklet featuring the Orient Line's 20,000 ton Royal Mail Steamer 'Orama', which operated passenger, cargo and mail services between England and Australian ports between 1924 and 1940. The 'Orama' was sunk by the German heavy cruiser Admiral Hipper off Norway after refit as a troopship during World War II. The booklet contains black & white photographs of the ship's public spaces and passenger cabins.
The date is estimated to be 1937 or later as the booklet references 'Orama's' sister ships 'Orion' and 'Orcades', which were launched in 1935 and 1937 respectively.
Physical Description
Staple-bound 12 page booklet printed in limited two-colour design on white stock. The front cover is printed in fawn and brown with the title 'RMS ORAMA ORIENT LINE'. Inside pages are printed predominately in black & white with each page featuring a single black & white photograph with accompanying caption and simple black and fawn banners at the top and bottom.
