One of 185 black and white photographs in an album, taken in France during World War I by Sergeant John Lord. Some pages are blank.

Photographs in the album depict army camps, hospitals, trenches, early tanks, landscapes, cemeteries and graves and groups of posed Australian soldiers. The places Lord mentions in his captions are La Boiselle, Quarry Siding, Pozieres, Albert, Bapaume and Favreuil. The album was one of many souvenirs brought back to Australia after World War I by John Lord (service # 6252). He donated photograph albums, images, documents and World War I memorabilia to Museum Victoria.

The photograph depicts the grave of Private Franklin Houn Good, service no. 3769, of the 13th Field Ambulance, AIF. Franklin was killed on 8 June 1917, aged about 19 years old.

Description of Content

Photograph of the Kandahar Farm cemetry in Wulvergem in Belgium. The grave with the white cross in the foreground is of Private Franklin Houn Good, who served in the 13th Field Ambulance and died on 08/06/1917. In front of the grave there is a shell casing converted into a flower vase. In the background there is several other graves and a row of trees in the extreme background. Inscription on the white cross in the foreground 'In / Memory / 3769 Pte F- H GOOD / 13th / Aust/ [illeligble] /Killed [rest of text illeligble]'
