Summary
One of 44 black and white photographs in an album bound in green suede, believed to have been taken by Sergeant Major Gilbert Payne Mulcahy during World War I. It documents his military service in Egypt, France, Belgium and his return to Australia via Capetown and the Quarantine Station, Point Nepean, 1916-1919.
Image depicting an unknown serviceman during what is described in the inscription as 'the weekly wash.' It is unclear from the image whether this wash refers to the serviceman himself or the pair of boots that sits in front of him. The image is undated.
Description of Content
Image of a man seated and looking down at what looks to be a piece of paper that he holds in his hand. The man is dressed in pants (with braces) and an undershirt. A pair of boots are sitting in front of him. Behind him appears to be some sort of suspended material that could be a makeshift wall or the inside of a tent.
Physical Description
