Part of set issued in 2004 "The 10 New EU members 2004" pending the introduction of the European Union currency, the Euro. The Euro was introduced in Cyprus on 1 January 2008.

Physical Description

Bank note is stored in an album containing the 2004 'Last Coins' sets and bank notes. The coin set is on the same page as its corresponding bank note.

Obverse Description

At right, traditional crafts, including two Cypriot jars, a rug and mosaic tiles, with a village and hills in the background. At top, 'CENTRAL BANK OF CYPRUS'. Beneath, 'ONE POUND'.

Reverse Description

At left, portrait of young woman in traditional dress, with serial number beneath. A security feature runs from top top bottom to the right of the portrait. At top and centre, Greek and Turkish translation of text on obverse, with map of Cyprus beneath. The date '1.2.2001' is to the right of the map. Along right side of note, serial number printed vertically. At top left, a rectangular security feature.
