This necklace was most likely worn by Aboriginal men and women, possibly during a period of mourning.
Physical Description
A multistrand necklace made of grass stems strung on lengths of vegetable fibre string. String is attached at each end and is a combination of vegetable fibre string and human hair string.
Significance
This necklace is said to be the one illustrated in the 1889 book by Carl Lumholtz, "Among Cannibals".
