Summary
Pair of brown, leather lace-up boots. They were identified by the donor as World War I-era at the time of acquisition. The origin of the boots is unknown. The donor, (David) Ralph Goodwin, served in World War II and donated other material relating to his war service. The donor's father, Norman Leslie Goodwin, does not appear to have served in World War I.
David Ralph Goodwin was born 14 Nov 1921 in Mordialloc. He enlisted 11 May 1938 in Melbourne, service number 22112, and became an Able Seaman. He served on HMA Ships Canberra, Vendetta, Perth and Hobart. He was serving at HMAS Cerberus in June 1943 when he was diagnosed as suffering from anxiety neuroses. He was discharged on 21 July 1943. He later founded the HMAS Perth Association.
