Summary

Leaflet illustrating how to care for Disston saws.

The animated chipmunk character of "Chips" Disston is shown on this cover and featured in other Disston literature at the time. The character is very similar to the three singing, animated chipmunk cartoon characters Alvin, Simon and Theodore, introduced by Ross Bagasdasrian Snr in 1958.

Henry Disston and Sons, Inc. (Australia) Ltd. was registered in 1914 to take over and conduct the Australasian business of Henry Disston and Sons Inc. (Philadelphia). They began making circular and band saws in Australia targeted to the Australian timber industry and saw mills. By the end of 1958, H. K. Porter Australia Pty. Ltd. were making Disston branded handsaws at their Guildford plant in New South Wales.
