Summary

One of a collection of fifteen black and white photographs showing passenger and cargo ships in Australian waters in the 1920s and 1930s. This image depicts the cargo ship MV Handicap (5,013 GRT) docked at an Australian port. This vessel was built in 1921 for Bruusgaard Kiøsterud & Co. in Norway. It changed ownership in 1937 and was re-named MV Ringar. It survived World War II serving with the London-based Norwegian Shipping & Trade Mission (Nortraship) which administered the Norwegian-owned merchant shipping fleet outside occupied Norway. After several more postwar changes of ownership and name the vessel was scrapped in China during 1967.
