Summary

Black and white silver gelatin photograph featuring a studio portrait of Kodak Australasia Pty Ltd employee Gerry Johnston, circa 1975. Gerry began working for the company in 1968 as a scientist and finished his career with the company in 1998 as Managing Director. In this photograph Gerry would have been working in management roles. Throughout the 1970s Gerry worked in Marketing, and was also sent to the US for two years to work in Business Planning for the Asia, Africa and Australasia (the AAA Region) at Eastman Kodak, Rochester.

Kodak manufactured and distributed a wide range of photographic products to Australasia, such as film, paper, chemicals, cameras and miscellaneous equipment. Its client base included amateur and professional photographers, as well as specialist medical and graphic art professionals who used photography, x-ray and other imaging techniques.

This photograph is part of the Kodak collection of products, promotional materials, photographs and working life artefacts collected from Kodak Australasia in 2005, when the Melbourne manufacturing plant at Coburg closed down.
