Summary
This circular mat has been coiled with a floral design and is mage out of dyed pandanus. Floral designs, known as 'kunngobarn mannguy marnbuyindanj', are some of the most figurative, and Jill Nganjmirra is the originator of this design. The centre is made with tightly bound pandanus of brown colour with a yellow colour centre, intersected with a row of cross stitching of pandanus of white colour.
Jill Nganjmirra's main artistic practice is fibre but she is also a painter using Arches paper and bark. She was Assistant Curator of the exhibition Twined Together: Kunmadj Njalehnjaleken.
