Summary

Cut-away promotional model of the fuselage of a Qantas Lockheed L-1049C Super Constellation airliner. Carries the civil aircraft registration VH-EAG. This aircraft was named "Southern Constellation" and was the first Super Constellation delivered to Qantas in 1954. On 15 May 1954 the aircraft departed Sydney on the inaugural Qantas L-1049 service to Nadi, Canton Island, Honolulu, San Francisco and Vancouver with 51 passengers. (Capt K.G. Jackson and Capt J. Connolly). "Southern Constellation was retired in 1963. Its last flight in Qantas service was a charter service bringing migrants from Malta in April 1963.

The registration VH-EAG is now carried by the Super Constellation (a converted military aircraft) operated by the Historical Aircraft Restoration Society.

Physical Description

Fibreglass model painted white, red and black standing on cast metal base. There are no wings and the tail section is painted with the Qantas Flying Kangaroo and the Australian flag.
