Summary
Baldwin Spencer was hosted at the pastoral station of Oenpelli in western Arnhem Land in 1912 by Paddy Cahill, the legendary buffalo shooter. Paddy Cahill was subsequently engaged by Spencer to continue to collect for the museum, and over the following decade this collaboration would result in well over a thousand of the most extraordinary objects being collected primarily from those whose country was around Oenpelli, as well as Kunwinjku people from the east and Gaagudju from the west who were camped at Oenpelli at this time.
