Summary
One of a series of postcards released by The National Museum of Victoria following the publication of 'The Mammals of Victoria' by Charles Walter Brazenor, Curator of Mammals in 1950. This image of the Ringtail Possum featured on page 41 of the book. The illustrations are by George Browning whom worked as a staff art officer at various times. Browning is perhaps best known for his work on Dioramas both at the National Museum of Victoria and at the War Memorial in Canberra. The postcards feature native Victorian Mammals but have no detailed information about each species, perhaps as a teaser for visitors to buy the publication. The series was sold in an accompanying envelope as a souvenir token sold in the Museum shop. This was probably a particularly short run series as it has not been seen other than this set.
