Summary

Tin produced to commemorate the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in London in 1953. It was made for Cadburys to hold confectionary items sold under the 'Pascalls' brand name, which were made in their factory in Hobart. This tin was given to the donor as a child, and retained by her as a memento of the event.

Part of a family collection gifted by the donor which includes objects passed down by her father Sir Henry Beaufort Somerset, a former Trustee of the National Museum of Victoria, and grandfather Henry St John Somerset.

Physical Description

Rectangular shaped metal tin with coloured lid. The lid has a light yellow background with a area of dark blue in the centre against which there is a colour photographic image of a head and shoulders portrait of Queen Elizabeth II framed within a circle. An illustration of a crown is at the top of the circle above the Queen's head. Silhouettes of a lion wearing a crown and unicorn are on either side of the Queen's image.
