Summary
Toy sewing machine given to the donor as a child. She used the sewing machine to make clothing for her dolls, including the gown on the baby doll in the collection (HT 31498.) This miniature sewing machine was made in Germany by the Muller Sewing Machine Company.
Part of a family collection gifted by the donor which includes objects passed down by her father Sir Henry Beaufort Somerset, a former Trustee of the National Museum of Victoria, and grandfather Henry St John Somerset.
Physical Description
Miniature black enamelled metal sewing machine decorated with Art Deco style designs in yellow and orange on each side. The plate is marked with an image of an eagle with its wings spread out and text "Made in Germany".
